1. In Witt chapter 12 Alicia Keys says: I don’t want to cover up any more. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth, Nothing. She refused make up as an expression of freedom and self-revelation. I disagree with her position because, make up is not something that hides the self from itself or rather by putting make up one does not become someone else. One’s true self is in the inner beauty of self. One can wear make up and still be free in mind, soul, thoughts. Make up is just a beauty that makes one look or hide the face scars or beautify the face but that does not mean it changes the person. Hence, I don’t agree to Key’s position.
